In the summer of 2008, Melody and Robbie from Fresh Media set out on their own culinary adventure to find the best burger on PEI. Not surprisingly, the burger they loved the most was proudly made with 100% Island Beef.

During their tasty journey, they noticed that not every restaurant identified their beef as being from PEI. When they asked servers if the beef was local, many didn't know. That's when they decided to use Fresh Media’s creative talents to develop a campaign celebrating the amazing beef we have in our own backyard, and to crown the best burger on the Island.

In 2011, Fresh Media launched PEI Burger Love™ with 14 restaurants and 5,517 burgers being sold. In 2018, there were 85 participating restaurants with over 180,000 burgers sold and 78,000 lbs of Island Beef enjoyed in just one month.

Over the past eight years, there has been over 833,000 burgers sold which equals $10.7 million in sales of just the burgers; a tremendous economic impact within our community.

2019 marks the third year for the Give Back Burger initiative where participating Give Back Burger restaurants donate $1 for every burger they sell during the campaign to our partnered charitable organization. In 2017 and 2018, we partnered with United Way where over $122,000 was raised to go towards Food Security Grant programs.
